There is no specific time, season, or celebration in checking and fixing damages on our cars. It doesn’t matter if the Car Care Month is over and likewise the spring season is soon to end. If we really value our cars, we always have it regularly checked. Now, it is known to us that holes and pits on the surface of roads can cause serious damage on our ride control system. Whenever we drive over a pothole, it is best recommended that our car’s shocks and struts be checked to ensure that they are not damaged. Why?

Shocks and struts are essential on our ride and handle. These two act as a cushion to diminish the bouncing movement of our car’s springs, which absorb the road bumps. Without shocks and struts, our vehicle would continuously bounce on the road, which would surely make our drive uncomfortable and difficult. Further, shocks and struts manage the spring and the suspension to maintain the contact of tires on the road, which affects stability, steering, and braking. In case one of these two has been broken, steering and handling would be directly affected and can cause danger. Therefore, it is very much essential to know if the shocks and struts of our vehicle need replacement.

Now, if your vehicle sways when turning, the front-end drops when braking, the rear-end bends when accelerating, if it bounces on a zigzag bumpy road, if it sits lower on the front or rear, if it loses directional control during a sudden stop, and if it leaks or has physical damage like rust or dents, definitely, your car’ pothole is damaged.

If you believe your vehicle’s shocks or struts have any form of damage, replace it immediately. You can replace it yourself or you can bring your car to a professional mechanic. You can surely save more dollars if you replace simple damage of whatever part of your car than wait until it causes more serious damage.
