The sales rose 67% along with fuel-price hike, specifically; the sales had hit 1,028,000 last month. As what the company claims, Prius cars have alleviated global warming through the production of 4.5 million tons less CO2 unlike with gasoline-powered vehicles. However, in the overall sales of vehicles in the U.S. market, only 2.3% comes from Hybrid vehicles. Further, Hybrid sales rose 38% last year but over vehicle sales dropped.
With the rising demand for such vehicles, Prius vehicles are very hard to find in showrooms which cause buyers to pay more for just to have them. John Hanson’ Toyota spokesman, said that Prius is becoming a special vehicle and as fuel prices keep rising, it gets even more special.
